Transport Companies Keep Hopes High

Many Ugandan businesses rely on many other Chinese manufactures and companies to stay operational. Most of the Chinese suppliers have either resumed work online or physically.
Trade is not back to full capacity although it’s slowly picking up in the ocean, air and road sector. The corona virus and Chinese New Year have affected many transport companies in Uganda, and many other shipping companies in Uganda.
But the future is bright despite all that has happened over these past months.
Ocean
Most Ocean lanes are operating at fractional capacities, although by mid March up to 90% of normal capacity is expected to be operational.

Road
In mainland China and the rest of East Africa, the road transport sector is well. Impact of the corona virus is minimal because of the reduction of shipment volumes, but is expected to get to 90% or full capacity by mid March.
Air
Air freight volumes are also expected to rise this mid month, which might trigger backlogs and rate/kilo increases.
